Mission: Great White Shark Dive

LIVE Monday, October 24th at 10:30 am MST

Join Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza of the Ocean First Institute and her team as they take you and your students 30 feet underwater to conduct research inside a shark cage off Isla Guadalupe, Mexico. Researchers will be using lasers to collect data on shark length. While underwater, Dr. Mikki will be communicating through a special mask, narrating the entire experience and helping students learn more about one of the world’s most iconic animals, the great white shark. Together students and teachers will learn how to identify basic shark anatomy and differentiate between male and female sharks. Students will assist in identifying individual sharks based on unique markings. The webinar will be co-hosted by great white shark researcher, Dr. Chris Lowe, from his California State Long Beach shark lab.
